A table/bench combination in laser cut and rolled aluminium. The design of this beautiful product range utilizes a combination of 3D CAD, structural analysis and pattern generation and low tech manufacturing processes. It is suitable for batch production as well as higher volumes.
The range was designed directly in 3D CAD with the aim of reverse-engineering the 3 dimensional shape back into a 2 dimensional pattern that can be cut out of the desired sheet material. The patterns are then rolled back into their 3 dimensional form using low tech manufacturing techniques with minimal setup costs.
The appeal of this method is that from the start the design is informed by the desired manufacturing process, therefore custom changes to the design can easily be made at an early stage to establish the most rational use of material and to fine tune production costs.
