TIM STOLZENBURG DESIGN | STUDIO SKALITZERSTRASSE 68 10997 BERLIN | GERMANY

The idea for the bracket chair is based on creating a simplistic no frills design by combining off the shelf and mass produced items, especially industrial fasteners and fittings with their honest and no nonsense appeal as an opportunity rather than a limitation. The design of the bracket chairs focuses on steel components, similar to a standard industrial bracket, that do all the structural work and build a visual focal point. The brackets are connected to precut strips of hardwood timber using standard furniture fittings that are normally used in mass production.
By utilizing the most suitable modern production methods, such as laser cutting and CNC milling it has become possible to combine classic materials in an exciting and playful way. The bracket chairs are not trying to hide the way they are made, they want to emphasize it. Even if the overall Design is kept very simple, it’s the connections and details that make the bracket chairs stand out from the crowd.
