Rapid Prototyping has the potential to manufacture detailed mechanical parts that are structurally sound and able to work together as a system within an enclosed body, no assembly required. I designed a family of weapons -with all internal components and moving parts designed to allow for manufacturing in a single operation-, not to replicate an existing ones, but as an example, to highlight the dangerous potential of rapid manufacturing as a tool to create objects that are beyond any controlling body, have no serial number and cannot be detected by metal detectors. Soon weapon files could be simply downloaded from the internet and be produced on a RM-machine that might become a standard piece of equipment in every future household.
